Close to 25,000 Lost Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Powerful Storms
Around twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the state, producing strong winds topping 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Impact
Residents observed large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in certain regions. Meteorological experts confirmed that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were attempting to repair energy supply throughout the affected regions, with nearly 70 crews activated to handle the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, around one thousand residents in Victoria also encountered electricity disruptions after Melbourne recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.
Rescue organizations received nearly 600 calls for help across the state, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

- Werribee region - experienced substantial storm damage
- Hoppers Crossing - multiple assistance requests
- Wyndham region - nearly 180 emergency requests
At one point on yesterday, more than 28,000 energy customers in Victoria were without power.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a atmospheric system continued to pull in damp air against the coast.
The following day was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with continued storm activity anticipated across different parts of both states.
Safety Concern
Public health experts warned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
This caution comes after previous incidents where analogous circumstances led to significant health impacts in the area.
